designed for the beginning computer user.
Jeffersonville
High School
*Basket Weaving- Monday, November 13 and November 20 form 7 to 9 p.m. $20, an
additional $10 for materials payable to instructor first night of class.
*Women and Investing Financial Workshop- Wednesday, November 15 from 7 to 8 p.m.
Free.
Charlestown
Middle School
*Basket Weaving- Monday, December 4 and December 11 from 7 to 9
p.m. $20, an additional $10 for materials payable to instructor first night of
class.
SCHS Theatre Department
to present The Wizard of Oz
The Silver Creek High School Theatre Department will
present the classic musical The Wizard of Oz this weekend, November 10
and 11 and November 16, 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday, November 12
production will be held at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets for the show are $10 for V.I.P.
seats (preferred seating), $8 for adults and $6 for students/senior citizens.
V.I.P. tickets are already sold out for performances on November 10, 11 and 18.
General admission tickets are still available for these performances.
This is the first time The Wizard of
Oz has been performed on the Silver Creek stage since 1995. This production
involves over 250 students from most schools in the West Clark Community School
system.
"Performing such a beloved show is
a wonderful experience for these students," said Jason Roseberry, theatre
director at Silver Creek. "We have had such a great time rehearsing the
show. I am sure the audience will be in for a real treat."
"I remember seeing the show at
Silver Creek the last time it was performed," recalled cast member Daniel
Hutchinson. "I was about eight years old and I thought it was the greatest
thing I had ever seen. It is awesome to now be onstage performing the same show
for a whole new generation."
Town of Sellersburg fall clean up
and yard waste disposal set for next week
Dumpsters will be provided for Town of Sellersburg
residents only for fall clean up beginning November 13 through November 17 form
8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on November 18 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Wastewater
Treatment Plant located at 701 Bean Road in Sellersburg.
Yard waste can be taken to Earth First located on Highway 403. Yard waste
consists of leaves, limbs, grass clippings, shrubs, flowers, etc. No plastic
bags or yard waste mixed with garbage. Proof of residency is required such as a
water bill or driver’s license.
Fall clean up items that will not be accepted include:
Any type of liquids (paint, oil, etc.)
No batteries
No asbestos
Any other hazardous material
Due to extra charges at the landfill, additional charges to residents will be
incurred for specific items. Residents must first stop by the Water and Sewer
Billing Office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and
pay a fee to acquire a receipt to be presented at the dumpster site.
Refrigerators, air conditioners and freezers- $60 per unit.
Car tires- $8 per tire.
Truck tires- $10 per tire.

SCHS Theatre to hold Wizard of
Oz character breakfast November 11
Silver Creek High School Theatre will be
holding a Wizard of Oz character breakfast on Saturday, November 11 in the
Silver Creek Elementary School cafeteria.
Characters will visit each table and thrill youngsters with
their antics.
There will be two seatings: 8:30 a.m, doors will open at 8:15
a.m. and 10 a.m. where the doors will open at 9:45 a.m. Tickets can be purchased
at Silver Creek Elementary School’s office for $5 each. You may also reserve
your table/seat by calling 502-291-2722.
This breakfast is being held in conjunction with the Silver
Creek High School Theatre’s production of "The Wizard of Oz" to be
held on November 10, 11, 12 and 16, 17 and 18. The Sunday performance, November
12, will start at 2:30 p.m. All other performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and
will be held in the Silver Creek High School Auditorium.
The breakfast will feature the beloved characters from the
movie including Dorothy, Scarecrow, Lion, TinMan, Glinda and The Wicked Witch of
the West with her flying monkeys.
Opportunities will be available to have pictures taken with
the characters and ornaments will be for sale as picture frames. T-shirts will
also be available for purchase.
The menu will consist of Wicked Witch of the West French
Toast Sticks, Yellow Brick Road Fruit Juice, Mini-Munchkin Sausage and Scarecrow’s
Applesauce.
