Autumn on the River Prince
and Princess contest announced

    The inaugural Autumn on the River prince and princess contest will be held on October 14 in the Historic Bethlehem Schoolhouse- Community Building in Bethlehem.
   
The contestants must be between the ages of 4 and 7 on the day of the contest. The contest attire will be dressy, street length, no formals or pageant wear for the girls and slacks with button up shirts for the boys.
   
The entry fee is $20 and the deadline for entries is September 16.

Charlestown officials 
remind citizens of sanitation services

    The City of Charlestown officials is asking that all sanitation customers put their trash cans out the night before their regular pick up day. With the extreme heat the sanitation employees are beginning trash routes much earlier than normal. The city officials would also like to remind the customers that bulk trash pick up and yard waste disposal is available. There is no charge for these pick ups with the exception of tires and any items that would normally contain Freon (freezer, refrigerators, etc.).
   
"It is our goal to help the citizens keep their homes and our city looking better than ever. If there are any questions please call City Hall at 256-3422, ext. 311," Charlestown Mayor Mike Hall stated.


Kiwanis free pancake and
sausage breakfast to be held August 25

    The Silver Creek Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a free pancake breakfast in conjunction with the Sellersburg Celebrates! Parade on August 25 from 7 to 10 a.m. next to the Sellersburg Police Department on New Albany Street in Sellersburg.
   
The free pancake breakfast is open to the public, monetary donations are welcomed. Kiwanis is a world-wide non-profit organization for individuals desiring personal involvement in the leadership and improvement of their communities. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Through Kiwanis membership individuals can give of themselves, their talent, time and love to those with human needs. Community betterment projects are financed through fundraising activities.

SCRH appoints new President and CEO

     Robert M. Lane, Chairman of Saint Catherine Regional Healthcare, LLC, announced the appointment of Michael J. Funk as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Saint Catherine Regional Hospital effective on Monday, August 13.
   Funk is a highly trained senior hospital executive with more than 30 years of hospital leadership experience, including serving most recently as President and CEO of Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru, Indiana. His achievements include implementing new clinical programs and services, leading the financial turn-around of underperforming facilities and improving healthcare quality.
   Funk graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and earned a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
   Funk and his wife, Kay, look forward to being part of the Saint Catherine Regional Hospital family and the Charlestown community.
   Lane stated, "We are pleased to find a Chief Executive Officer who is as quality and community oriented and who knows Indiana healthcare."
