to host election of new officers


  
The Pirate Pride Booster Club will hold election of new officers during their Monday, July 9 meeting. The meeting will be held in the Media Center at Charlestown High School and will begin at 7 p.m.
Now is a good time to get involved in the organization. The Pirate Pride Boosters offers a special invitation to come and get involved in the group.


Charlestown summer golf tour

     It’s that time of the year again. Get those golf clubs out of the closet and put some new spikes in your shoes.
    The Charlestown Golf Tour members are ready to tee it up for another summer of fun, food and friendly ribbing with a little serious golf thrown in also. If you enjoy good golf courses and a friendly atmosphere then the golf tour is the place to be. The group meets every Tuesday morning at Copper Kettle Restaurant on Main Cross in Charlestown and leave around 8 a.m. to a different local golf course in the Southern Indiana area.

City of Charlestown 
announces sidewalk improvement plan

    The City of Charlestown is pleased to announce its Sidewalk Improvement Plant.
   
"We have $20,000 earmarked for sidewalk repair in the 2007 budget," stated Charlestown Mayor Mike Hall.
   
The plan to repair sidewalks is as follows: homeowners may pick up an application at City Hall or download an application on the City website www.cityofcharlestown.com.
   
Applications must be returned to City Hall, 304 Main Cross Street, Charlestown, IN 47111 by July 11.
   
The city will match 50 percent of the cost of labor and material with the homeowner contributing the remaining 50 percent. The homeowner’s contribution must be paid prior to work commencing. Work will be completed on first come, first served basis, determined by the date applications are returned.


CHS boys
basketball team golf scramble

    The Charlestown Pirate boys basketball team will be holding a golf scramble on Monday, July 9 at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Sellersburg.
   There will be a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. with lunch served after golf. Entry fee will be $200 per foursome, with a limit of 144 players. Hole sponsorship will be $50. The deadline for registration is July 5, after that you may call Hidden Creek for availability of spots.
   Door prizes and contests on the course. All proceeds benefit the Charlestown High School Pirates basketball team.
