Free baseball camp to be held

   A free baseball camp will be held by Charlestown High School Coach Ricky Romans and staff. The camp will teach basic fundamentals of the game. The camp will be held on March 10. Boys ages 7-10 will attend the camp from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and boys ages 11-14 will attend the camp from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
   
Parents are welcome to attend.
   
The camp will be held rain or shine. Bring your bat and glove. If inside no cleats.
   
The camp will be held at Charlestown Little League weather permitting. If the weather is bad the camp will be held at Charlestown High School.
   
The camp is sponsored by Southern Indiana Youth Boosters.


Louisville man arrested by ISP

    On February 20, Indiana State Police Senior Trooper Jamey Noel stopped a 1994 black Chevy truck driven by Bradley W. Ellis for speeding on Interstate 65 at Veteran’s Parkway.
   
Noel detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana and a mild odor of green marijuana. Upon further investigation Noel recovered approximately a half a pound of marijuana, a set of scales and a small metal grinder with alleged burnt marijuana residue on it.
   
Ellis, 36, of Louisville, was arrested and transported to and lodged in the Clark County Jail. Ellis was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, a Class D felony and possession of paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.
   
Clarksville Police K-9 Officer Tim Beyerle insisted in the investigation.


Sunnyside Master Gardeners
to meet March 6 in Edwardsville

    Sunnyside Master Gardeners’ next monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at Tunnel Hill Church in Edwardsville (Georgetown exit).
    Based on his book, "Harvesting Nature’s Bounty," Kevin Duffy will give an overview of natural plant material used for survival and medicinal use.
    Duffy grew up exploring Southern Indiana woods and has a BS in Biology Education from Purdue. After college, he joined the Navy, where he attended eight wilderness survival schools. After retiring, he moved back to Southern Indiana and continues to develop his wilderness education. He conducts classes at Bernheim Forest and for other organizations.

2007 Falls of the Ohio
Summer Day Camps to be offered

    The 2007 Falls of the Ohio Summer Day Camps are filled with exciting hands-on education activities for students who will be in grades one through six during the 2007-2008 school year. The Falls of the Ohio is a great place for kids to learn about science and history, including fossils, nature, native people, the Interpretive Center’s exhibits, films, aquariums and more.
   The Young Archaeologist Camp for ages nine to 14 will explore the life of an archaeologist. The camps are sponsored by the Falls of the Ohio Foundation and State Park Interpretive Center.
