Sellersburg Parks now
accepting applications 
for summer pool positions

    The Sellersburg Parks Department is now accepting applications for the following positions: Swimming Pool Manager/ Assistant Manager (must be 18 or older and CPR certified), Lifeguards (must be 16 or older and have lifeguard & CPR certification) and Concession Workers (must be 15 or older).
   
The deadline for applications is March 2.
   
Applications are available at the Sellersburg Sewer & Water Department, 103 S. New Albany Street.

Charlestown Little
League preparing for 2007 season

    The Charlestown Little League Board of Directors are preparing for the 2007 baseball and softball season.
   
Registrations will be held on January 27 and February 3 at the Charlestown Little League concession stand from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You must provide proof of residence and date of birth. A registration fee of $55 for one child, $90 for two and $120 for three children or more will be charged. Financial assistance will be available. Anyone wishing to play baseball or softball between the ages of 5 and 16 years old are welcome.
   
The Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to welcome anyone wishing to coach, umpire, work on fields, help in concession stand or do anything to help improve the Little League Program. Volunteer applications will be available at the sign-ups or you may contact any member on the Board of Directors.


Prosser open house

    Prosser School of Technology, 4202 Charlestown Road in New Albany, will hold its annual Open House on Thursday, January 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Students, parents, business representatives, and all community members are invited to tour the facility and visit the 28 different program areas offered by the school. Principal Alan Taylor stated, "We are very proud of what we offer at Prosser, and we hope people will visit and see for themselves why Prosser students are becoming some of the highest paid employees in our Southern Indiana community."
   
A computer will be given away, and the Culinary Arts Department will offer an all-you-can-eat spaghetti with meat sauce dinner which includes garlic bread sticks, drink, and assorted cookies for only $2 from 5:30 to 7p.m.
   
Prosser School of Technology serves students from Austin, Borden, Charlestown, Christian Academy of Indiana, Clarksville, Corydon Central, Crawford County, Eastern, North Harrison, Providence, Restoration Christian, Salem, Scottsburg, Silver Creek, South Central, and West Washington. Students will earn a Prosser Certificate and will earn high school credits toward their Indiana high school diploma. In addition, students will receive on-the-job training and may earn college credits in some programs. Prosser offers a free lifetime job placement service to its graduates and offers programs for adults who are seeking additional training.

Rose Island Playhouse
announces upcoming auditions

    Rose Island Playhouse is proud to announce auditions for John Patrick’s hilarious comedy "A Bad Year for Tomatoes" will be held on Saturday, February 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Charlestown Arts and Enrichment Center at 999 Water Street in Charlestown.
  
The cast requirements are: four women and three men including- Myra Marlowe- a famous TV star in her middle years who has retired and just wants to raise tomatoes and write her autobiography in peace; Tom Lamont- Myra’s agent who is a handsome man graying at the temples; Cora Gump- a "little too friendly" neighbor; Reba Harper- another "friendly" neighbor; Piney- a beared man who dresses in overalls and is a lover of nature; Willa Mae Wilson- another neighbor who is very eccentric and can see into the future; Sheriff- a man determined to do his duty.
  
Rehearsals will be on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon starting February 22. The performances will be on April 13, 14 and 15.
  
Crew sign-up: Stage managing, lighting, props, costumes, make-up, set construction, assistant to the directors, stage hands, etc. Sign up forms will be available at the audition or interested individuals may call 289-1329 or 293-2216.
