WW wins regional, loses at Semi-State Print
The West Washington Lady Senator softball team picked up their second regional championship in three years by knocking off Borden last week.
WW then advanced to Saturday’s Semi-State against Clay City.
The Lady Senators fell behind early, 3-0, but then clawed their way back to a 3-all tie.
Clay City managed to get one more run across the plate to seal the 4-3 win.
Clay City lost in the Semi-State finals later on Saturday evening, 3-1 to North Daviess.
North Daviess will now play North Miami for the state Class A softball title.
For West Washington, the loss brings to an end the high school careers of Eden Tuttle, Chance Sizemore, Carrie Miller and Shelby Springer.
The class helped put West Washington’s program on the map, with two sectional titles, two regional championships and they played in four consecutive softball sectional championship games.
“We are no longer a softball program that doesn’t get respect,” said Head Coach Michael Long after his team beat Trinity Lutheran in the Springs Valley sectional final.
