The Charlestown Parks & Recreation Department and the North Clark Outreach Center will host the third annual “Back to School Bash and Backpack Giveaway.”
Last year they gave away 500 backpacks.
On Saturday, August 6 in Greenway Park 500 backpacks filled with school supplies will be given away to kids grades kindergarten-12 that are students in the Charlestown School district.
The Parks Department need your help. Please join them in making this a great event for kids who need a little help in getting the supplies they need for the 2011-2012 school year.
They need sponsorships and donations. You can make monetary donations and they will buy the supplies or you can purchase supplies and give them out to the kids. This is a great way to showcase your business, give back to the community, and help the kids start the year off right.
They are in need of all supplies for all ages, health and beauty products, and monetary donations. The giveaway will be at 6 p.m.
The Parks will be showing the movie “Toy Story 3” in Greenway Park at 9 p.m. They will be giving away free hotdogs, chips, drinks, and popsicles starting at 5 p.m (while supplies last).
“This is our third Backpack giveaway, giving back to our community and we are glad to help our kids start school with the supplies that they need. Our sponsors are really excited to be a part of this event and have been working hard to collect supplies for the kids. It’s amazing to me how the businesses and organizations in Charlestown will jump at the chance to help the kids in our community. We are really blessed with great people,” Davidson stated.
