Scott County has been awarded federal funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board through the State of Indiana.

A meeting of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Board is scheduled at the United Way office.  The office is located at 60 N Main St Scottsburg.

Scott County will receive $10,739.00 in 2014 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area.  At this meeting it will be decided how the money is to be divided between township trustees who wish to participate and other FEMA local recipient officials (LROs).

The local board is made up of township trustees, LROs and United Way staff.  This board will determine how the funds awarded to Scott County are to be distributed among emergency food and shelter programs run by the local service organizations in the area.

This meeting is open to interested persons and input would be welcome.

Scott County has distributed Emergency Food and Shelter funds previously with township trustees and the Scott County Clearinghouse participating.  The United Way of Scott County acts as the fiscal agent.  A representative from each township would further enhance the efforts of this program.

Additional information regarding this program may be obtained by contacting Nancy Riley, United Way Executive Director at 752-2586.  Persons are asked to call if they are planning to attend the meeting so that seating can be provided.
