Pedestrian Dies in Crash on Grant Line Road Print

 

On December 20, 2011 at approximately 3:54 p.m., the New Albany Police Department received a call regarding a crash involving a pedestrian on Grant Line Road near Jolissaint Ave. Due to the severity of the injuries to the pedestrian, the Floyd County CART Team was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a pedestrian was crossing Grant Line Road north of the intersection of Jolissaint Avenue when he was struck by a northbound blue 2003 Chevrolet Impala.

The Chevrolet had swerved around another vehicle which was turning east on Jolissaint Avenue.

The pedestrian was struck as the Chevrolet came back into the northbound lane. He was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle, RYAN BROWNING, age 18, of Georgetown, IN was not injured. As is standard procedure in fatality crashes, Browning was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw to check for alcohol or drug impairment.

The pedestrian has been identified as DAVID BREWER, 24, of Clarksville.

Grant Line Road was closed for approximately two hours during the on-scene investigation.
