Habitat Auction Dec. 3 Print

Imagine a Christmas tree ornamented with tiny porcelain dolls or one decked with sea shells.  Your dream of your most beautiful Christmas tree could come true at the Habitat for Humanity Christmas Tree Auction on Saturday, December 3!  Florists and other businesses, plus some very talented local citizens, have decorated and donated Christmas trees of all sizes.  They will be on display for pre-bidding beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, at Corydon Presbyterian Church, 568 Highway 62 West (just up the hill from the Corydon Post Office).  At 1 p.m. the live auction of all the trees plus specially crafted gift baskets will begin.
The Habitat Christmas Tree Auction will be part of the Corydon Presbyterian Church bazaar.  Though all the bids from the auction will go towards Habitat for Humanity of Harrison County, the proceeds from the bazaar will be split between Habitat and Harrison County Community Services.  The bazaar will run from 10 am – 2 pm, with a freewill offering lunch from 11 am – 1 pm.  The luncheon includes homemade soups (broccoli cheese, potato, chili, etc.), sandwiches (choice of homemade fillings) and dessert and drink.  The bazaar features homemade baked goods & candies, pickles, jellies, crafts, decorations and gifts for children, adults and even for pets.  Outside vendors will also sell their specialties.
A queen size quilt will be given away at 1 p.m. on December 3.  Designed and pieced by the Sew Bee It Quilt Guild, the 1930s Reproduction Sampler Quilt was intricately machine quilted by Lora Nale of Borden, IN.  It is currently on display at Arlston’s Booksellers on the square in Corydon (open 10 am – 6 pm, except for Sundays and Wednesdays when it is closed).  For a $5 donation only 200 people will have a chance to own this quilt.  Donations can be made at Arlston’s.
