A few notes

Appearances and absences

One of Borden's top players, Reilly Gray did not play in Friday's game against the Lions.

Salem senior post player Steven Kinslow also didn't play.

Eastern junior Alex Hobson made his first appearance this season for the Musketeers.

EHS SHS last titles

The last time Eastern won the Holiday Tournament was during the 2010-11 season. They beat WW on the opening night

that year 46-41 and then beat Salem, 61-58 in the championship game.

Salem hasn't won since the 2008-2009 season when they beat Borden 53-47 in the opening round and then won a low

scoring game, 35-30 over West Washington.

A show of unity

All four teams attended a meal hosted by West Washington on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Eastern Head Coach Scott Newcomb said it was a nice idea.

"We enjoyed it," he said. "Of course we had several kids who had finals, so we only brought seven, but it was a good time. I

think we will continue if we can get around finals."

The meal was catered by Ron Smith.

Raining threes

The two teams in the championship game, Salem and Eastern, combined to hit 20 threes in the opening game.
