?Farm Bureau, Inc. to host Meet the Candidates session October 28 PDF Print E-mail

?    The Clark County Farm Bureau, Inc. will conduct a “Meet the Candidates” session on Tuesday, October 28, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Building at the Clark County 4-H Center (Highway 62 in Charlestown).
    Federal, state and county candidates for office in the upcoming fall election are being invited to participate in this event.
    The session is free of charge and the public is urged to attend. Those in attendance will be able to ask candidates questions from the floor or privately.
    Questions about this public session may be directed to Judy Popp, President of the Clark County Farm Bureau, Inc., at 812-256-5870.

?FEMA to be at Floyd County Fairgrounds to distribute food stamps, applications for disaster assistance PDF Print E-mail

?    All this week, FEMA will be on hand at the Floyd County 4-H Fairgrounds to distribute food stamps to qualified homeowners whose food was lost during the power outage resulting from September 14's windstorm.
    These food stamps will be in the form of pre-loaded “shopping cards”, allowing families re-compensation of food losses.  These cards will vary in amount depending on the size of family, conditions, etc.
    In addition, FEMA can also offer the opportunity to apply for housing assistance to cover structural damage to homes.

    “Our customers may be watching the news and reading the papers and naturally, they worry about their own banks,” said Sam Uhl, President of First Harrison Bank. “We understand their concern, but want to reassure our customers that they need not worry about the stability of their bank and the safety of their money.”

?Floyd Central, North Harrison boys both advance to cross country semi state PDF Print E-mail

    ?Floyd Central and North Harrison ran in 1st and 2nd place in the boys’ division in Saturday’s Crawford County Regional, and will advance to the semi state at Brown County this Saturday. Floyd Central used four individual places in the top 20 to score the low of 67. Justin Hodge (16:26.8) and Garrett Blackman (16:27.0) were in 4th and 5th place respectively. In 16th and 17th place were Sam Mires and Daniel Huhnerkoch.

?Adult flu vaccination clinic set October 24 PDF Print E-mail

?    Staff of the Scott County Health Department will conduct its annual adult flu vaccination clinic on Friday, October 24, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Scottsburg.
    Clinic hours will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. Cost of a flu shot will be $20. Medicare will not be billed.
    Anyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to come and receive a flu shot. There is an abundance of influenza vaccine this season, and everyone is encouraged to get a flu shot now so that they are fully protected throughout the flu season.
