A week long recruiting campaign for 4-H will begin in Washington County this Saturday, March 11, and will run through Friday, March 17. 4-H is a volunteer led organization that reaches out to the youth through a variety of programs based in both rural and urban settings. It’s also the largest youth-serving organization in the country for youth in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Jeanie Lewellen walked with her granddaughter Janessa just moments after last Friday’s tornado ripped through Old Pekin Road. Lewellen’s home was destroyed. She held her dog and a picture of her mother but her main concern was not on all that she had lost it was the family of five that lived in the home across the street.
