Class of 2012 ready for graduation exercises on Friday evening at AHS
Seventy-three diplomas will be presented to seniors at Austin High School on Friday evening, May 25. The Class of 2012 will conducts its graduation exercises in the Lady Eagles’ gymnasium starting at 8 p.m. on Friday. People attending are encouraged to get there early to get good seats. Those who cannot attend will be able to watch the ceremony on Insight Cable TV Channel 25, thanks to the efforts of the local cable station, Scottcounty.tv. Following the processional played by the Austin High School Band under the direction of Jason Hougland, Jacob Andrew Jones will provide opening remarks to the crowd and his fellow 72 seniors.
Both the defense and the state wrapped up the murder trial of Tammy Spengler last Wednesday afternoon. After more than 10 hours of deliberation, they came back and found her guilty of one count of murder and two counts of aiding in murder.
There were several athletes from area schools who advanced to next week’s track regional. The top four athletes in each event advanced to Tuesday’s track regional at Bloomington North. Results from regional were not available at press time, but will be printed in next week’s edition of The Banner Gazette. Also included in this story are the results from last Thursday’s boys’ track sectional at Corydon Central. The following is a list of results from the girls’ May 15 track sectional at Floyd Central.
