The next outdoor breakfast hosted by Friends of Hardy Lake at the lake’s shelterhouse overlooking the beach will be held on Saturday, May 29, during Memorial Day weekend.
The group will serve an all-you-can-eat meal from 7 to 10 a.m. on certain Saturdays during the spring, summer and fall at the large shelterhouse to raise funds to support the Dwight Chamberlain Raptor Center near the lake. Cost per breakfast is $6 per adult and $3 for children ages three to 12. Youngsters under age three will eat free.
Other dates for the breakfasts include June 26, July 3 on the Independence Day weekend, July 31, August 28, September 4 on the Labor Day weekend, September 25 during Hardy Lake’s Raptor Days and October 30 during the lake’s Fall Fun Days weekend.

Pirate track and field produce Sectional Champs in three Events PDF Print E-mail

The Pirate Track and Field team finished fourth out of 12 teams Thursday night, May 20, at the Jeffersonville Sectional.

Some of the non scoring highlights of the night included Lucas Poteet and Cesar Hernandez finishing first in their flights and Morgan Burkhart making it to the finals of the long jump.

Scoring points for the team were Michael Baines in four events, Josh King and Aaron Daniel in three events, Clay Daniel and Daniel Taylor in two events, Ryan Wilkerson, Kyle Jenkins, Kie Sutherland, and Morgan Burkhart in

one event.

Advancing to next week's regional in Bloomington are Clay Daniel in the shot put, Aaron Daniel in the high jump, Michael Baines in long jump, Josh King in the 110 hurdles, the 400 meter relay team consisting of Baines, Morgan Burkhart, Daniel Taylor, and Ryan Wilkerson.

Sectional champions and also advancing to the regional were Michael Baines in the 100 meter dash, Josh King in the 400 meter, and the 1600 meter relay team consisting of Kyle Jenkins, Josh King, Michael Baines, and Daniel Taylor.

Officials with the Sellersburg Pool have announced this season’s schedule and operating hours.

The Sellersburg Pool will open on Saturday, May 29 will be open all of Memorial Day weekend. The pool will open for the season after school is out for the summer. The first day of the summer season at the Sellersburg Pool will be Friday, June 4.

The Sellersburg Pool operating hours will be Monday through Saturday from 12 noon to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.

Openings still available for Founder’s Day Prince and Princess contest PDF Print E-mail

The annual Charlestown Founder’s Day Prince and Princess Contest will take place on Saturday, June 12 at 2 p.m. It will be held at the Charlestown Arts and Enrichment Center located at 999 Water Street. There will be a $2 admission charge to attend.

Children interested in participating in the pageant must be between the ages of 4 and 6 on the day of the pageant. The rules of the pageant as well as applications are available at City Hall and online at www.ctownbeautification.com.

The winners of the prince and princess contest will each receive a $50 Toys-R-Us gift card and get to ride in a convertible during the Founder’s Day Parade on June 26. All participants will receive a small award, have his or her picture in The Leader in a full color article prior to the Founder’s Day Festival, and also ride on a float during the Founder’s Day parade.

The deadline to submit applications is Friday, May 28 and the fee to enter is $20. They will only accept applications from the first 20 boys and the first 20 girls.

The award winning Floyd Central Theatre Arts Department  under the direction of Chris Bundy will present an ecclectic evening of music and comedy on the  New Albany Riverfront Stage on the evening of May 29th at 7:30 p.m.
