Charlestown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1427 is taking applications for Christmas food baskets for Charlestown area residents. Each basket will provide enough food for a traditional Christmas dinner. Applications are available Monday through Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. at V.F.W. Post 1427 located at 350 Harrison Street in Charlestown.

Please note that all applicants must provide ID and income verification. All applications will be crossed checked with other local organizations to avoid duplication. The deadline for applications is Friday, December 7. Donations of food or money to help with the baskets may be dropped off at the Post by December 15.

The Polar Express will be in Salem on Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m.
The evening will start at 5L30 with crafts and the movie will be shown at 6 p.m.

The first three rules of real estate are location, location, location, and at times it felt like the Salem City Council were talking like realtors during their most recent meeting that took place on November 12. Three public hearings were held throughout the evening, two of which involved the vacating of property within Salem’s city limits.

At the November 13th quarterly meeting of the Franklin Township Farm Bureau, Harrison County Superior Judge Roger D. Davis explained “ The Ten Commandments of  a Good  Judge”.  After a pot-luck dinner, served at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Lanesville Jr/Sr High School, Davis said in his opening remarks “there could (in reality) be Twenty Commandments of a good Judge”.
