Pedestrian Dies in Grant Line crash PDF Print E-mail

On December 20, 2011 at approximately 3:54 p.m., the New Albany Police Department received a call regarding a crash involving a pedestrian on Grant Line Road near Jolissaint Ave.  Due to the severity of the injuries to the pedestrian, the Floyd County CART Team was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

1 Flown to U of L after 150 crash PDF Print E-mail

On December 21, 2011 at approximately 4:50 p.m. the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department received a call regarding an injury crash at US 150 and Old Vincennes Road in Floyds Knobs.  Emergency Responders arrived to find one occupant in the two-vehicle crash had been ejected from a vehicle. The Floyd County Combined Accident Reconstruction Team (CART) was also called to assist with the investigation.

Community-Wide Safety and Awareness Fair on Jan. 14 PDF Print E-mail

The Scott County AmeriCorp, New Hope Services, and Prevent Child Abuse, Scott County Council are partnering to host a community wide Safety and Awareness Fair on Saturday, January 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at three locations in Scott County. The Fair will be held at the Scott County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Austin, Lexington Fire Department and Scottsburg Armory.

These programs should be held within the geographical confines of the county and available and accessible to all.
United Way is especially interested in funding programs that deal with its three vision areas: Investing in Children, Promoting Health and Independence, and Helping Families in Crisis.

Farm Credit Purchases Firefighting Gear for Lexington Fire Department PDF Print E-mail

Farm Credit Services of Mid-America recently presented a check for $1,750 to the Lexington Township Volunteer Fire Department. The gift will completely outfit one volunteer fireman with a new set of firefighting gear.
“This donation will really help us out,” said Terry Walker, Lexington Fire Chief. “We needed to replace seven sets of turnout (firefighting) gear this year and we didn’t have enough money to replace of them all. Those older sets were obsolete and past the OSHA ten-year replacement date, and some had holes in them or were otherwise in sad shape. This donation will allow us to put gear on one more of our members and is greatly appreciated.”
