The political climate nationally is likely to spill over onto the local election scene. Combine that with the fact that a number of high profile offices are up for grabs and that’s why Washington County Clerk Shirley Batt is getting information out early.
“I would think we will have more interest in the election in 2012,” she said. “You are going to have the three at-large seats on the county council up for grabs and then there is two commissioner seats and they tend to draw interest.”

Lady Musketeers overcome Austin and hostile enviornment PDF Print E-mail

Thursday’s Mid Southern Conference showdown between the Eastern and Austin girls’ basketball teams had a little of everything. There were technicals, fan ejections, spirited play on both ends of the floor and a little razzle-dazzle.
In the end none of that mattered as the Lady Musketeers took care of business, keeping their perfect record in tact at 9-0 with a 50-47 victory at Austin.

Winning high school basketball games on the road is a hard thing to do. It’s made even more difficult when you turn the ball over, miss shots and get killed on the boards, which is what West Washington did in losing, 68-37, Thursday at Borden.
The reason for two of those areas has a lot more to do with size than basketball ability.
Lady Senator Head Coach Wade Tomlinson said he knows before the game tips off if his team is in trouble or not by comparing the size of players.
