Imagine a scenic valley tucked between two wooded hills, an ice and snow-covered creek running nearby, and steam billowing from the tall smokestack of a large, low barn.  The sap gathered from the nearby maple trees is being boiled down into thick, sticky, pure syrup, soon to be enjoyed by a family on their pancake breakfast.

The IHSAA (Indiana High School Athletic Association) recently announced classifications for the next four years.
While there weren't a lot of changes locally, there were a few.
The biggest difference is the fact that Brownstown Central is moving to Class 3A in all sports.
The Braves had played in the Class 2A Sectional 47, but now will move to a 3A sectional, which will likely feature a number of local schools similar in size.
Corydon 774, Charlestown 729, North Harrison 685, Salem 627, Mitchell 620 and Brownstown 596 are comparable with students enrolled in grades nine through 12.
West Washington has spent the past four years competing in Class 2A as a result of one very large class. The Senators will move back to Class A for the next four years.
Crawford County, a mainstay in the Class 3A sectional 30 in recent years will move back to Class 2A.
Henryville has been a class A school, but will move to Class 2A.
Austin, Scottsburg and Crothersville remain the sameclass as they were prior to the latest classification numbers.
No schools in Clark, Harrison or Floyd changed classifications.
The changes are sure to affect the sectional lineups but those will not be determined until later this school year.
The complete list of schools can be found at www.ihsaa.org.
