    Janet Hurst, Clark County Treasurer wants to inform taxpayers that their tax statements were mailed and they are due by November 10, 2009. If you own property in Clark County and you did not receive a statement, please contact the Treasurer’s Office at (812)285-6205. It is the taxpayers responsibly to pay their taxes by the due date to avoid penalties. You can pay your annual bill by one of the following options:
1.  Mail: Payment with coupon to the Clark County Treasurer, P.O. Box 1508, Jeffersonville, IN  47131.
2.  In Person:  Treasurer’s Office is located in the Clark County Government Bldg., Rm. 125, Jeffersonville, IN  47130. Please bring entire statement when paying in person.  Business hours 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. (M-F)  
3.  Banks:  Mainsource Bank, New Washington State Bank and Your Community Bank will accept payments by cash or check with coupon/statement at all Clark and Floyd County locations.
4.  Credit Cards:  (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express)  All credit card payments will be processed through our vendor Point & Pay with a convenience fee of 2.95% of your total tax statement, min. $2.00.  You can pay at the Treasurer’s Office, by phone at 1-888-891-6064 (option 1) or via the internet at http://www.co.clark.in.us/treasurer.
5.  Also new this year, the taxpayers can now view their tax statements online by going to http://clark-in.egis.39dn.com; Treasurer, Janet Hurst can provide this option with the GIS (Geographical Information System) that is already being used by the County which is contracted with 39 degrees North.  She believes that this will not only give taxpayers another option of getting their tax information but also will help area realtors and researchers having access to this information in their offices.

Looking for used band instruments PDF Print E-mail

    Salem Middle and Salem High School bands  are in need of gently used instruments that can be given to the students for the following reasons:
    When a students cannot afford an instruments or the family doesn't want to incur a financial obligation for an expensive instrument before the student is certain of his/her commitment to band.
    As a practice instrument (especially larger ones) to be kelp at home so that students do not have to arrange for instruments to be transported back and forth from home to school.
    As a back-up when a student's instruments in in the shop for repair.
    If you are willing to donate an instruments, please feel free to drop it off at Salem Middle School or call Bonnie Harmon, 883-3808, ext. 3075 to arrange pick-up.

Girl’s Basketball Cubby Camp sign ups soon PDF Print E-mail

    The Salem Parks and Recreation has announced the dates to sign up for the basketball “Cubby Camp” led by Salem High School Girl’s Basketball Coach Laura Motsinger and Andy Motsinger. The camp is for girl’s grades 3rd-6th and is for those attending Salem schools only.   A schedule will be given out at the time of registration.  
    Registration times and dates:
     Tuesday September 22, 9 a.m. to noon
     Wednesday September 23, 2-5 p.m.
     Thursday September 24, 2-5 p.m.
     Tuesday September 29, 2-5 p.m.
     Wednesday September 30, 6-7:30 p.m.
     Thursday October 1, 2-5 p.m.    
    Sign ups are in the Salem City Hall Building, 201 East Market Street, Salem. Registration fee is $35. For more information you may call the Parks and Recreation at 883-2895.

Toddler Time and Preschool Story Time PDF Print E-mail

     When the leaves begin to change it's time for Toddler and Preschool Story Time! This fall there will be lots of excitement and fun at Toddler Time and Preschool Story Time with Miss Cinda.
    Toddler Time will begin on September 29 at 10:30 a.m. Toddler Time is for children 2 and 3 years of age and a parent or caregiver must attend with each child.
    Preschool Story time  begins on September 30 at 10:30 a.m. This program is for children ages 4 and 5. A parents of caregiver must remain in the library, but are not required to attend with their child.
    Each session will last for 30-45 minutes. Pre-registration is required. You may register at the Library beginning August 31 or by calling the Libray at 883-5604. Call the Library for more information on this program or any other fall programs at the Salem Public Library.

Propulling event at Cockadoodle Days canceled due to weather PDF Print E-mail

    Unfortunately due to weather conditions Lucas has cancelled the Propulling Event at Cockadoodle Days. At the very least, 1/2 day of good weather is required to get the track ready and most of the pullers are coming from out-of-state, from as far away as Texas.
    Organizers wish to stress that the other events are under a roof and will continued as scheduled.
    Tickets that were purchased in advance for the Old Capitol Power Pull at Cockadoodle Days can be refunded at the Cockadoodle Days information booth at the festival during the festival hours (Friday, September 25, 5 p.m. - Midnight; Saturday, September 26, 9 a.m. - 1 a.m.) or mailed to: Lucas Oil, P.O. Box 287, Brownstown, IN 47220.
    Please bring all tickets that were purchased in advance for a full refund.
