Dragons begin new era in football history at Springs Valley PDF Print E-mail

The Silver Creek varsity football Dragons and head coach Mike Donahue took a huge step in the history of the grid iron last Friday night as they took the football field at Springs Valley High School. The game began a new era in Silver Creek football as the Dragons played in the first game of a full varsity season on the grid iron since 1942. The team never gave up and got a taste of what varsity football in southern Indiana is all about. Silver Creek fell to the home-standing Blackhawks 38-21. The Dragons accepted a challenge from Donahue and outscored Springs Valley 21-13 in the second half of the contest.

Eastern's Tyler Duncan found out today that his father was killed in an accident this morning while working at Jeff Boat. He decided to play and the Musketeers rode the wave of emotion to an 18-7 win over West Washington in Both teams' season-openers.

The Musketeers had a lot of other reasons to be emotional. Be sure to see a story about the emotions and their big win, the schools first-ever in football over the Senators.

Eastern just needs a win over Salem to secure the school's first-ever county championship in football.

The Musketeers play Clarksville next week and WW travels to take on Christian Academy.

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes three, chapters one through 7 that “There is an appointed time for everything.  And there is a time for every event under heaven ~ 2 A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted. 3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance. 5 A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing. 6 A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away. 7 A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak.8 A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace.
