The Salem High School girls’ basketball team will enter sectional play coming off a 55-43 win over Hauser on Jan. 29.
In that game, six players found their way into the scoring column led by Alex Davidson with 20 points and Brittney Walker added 10.

Lanesville Youth League gets big boost PDF Print E-mail

The Lanesville Youth League Endowment Fund at the Harrison County Community Foundation has received a $100,000 boost. The fund, established last year, provides for the support and maintenance of the Lanesville Youth League Fields. Plans call for the creation of a field designed for kids with special needs. The donors said they know it will cost additional money to maintain such a specialized field and they want to make sure it is available.  They hope others will join them in providing support for the project.

Roadway ice, heavy winds factors in February 1 wreck that injures driver PDF Print E-mail

Driving conditions were less than ideal on State Road 56 East early Friday morning, February 1, and combined to help cause a Deputy woman to crash her pickup truck. The accident happened minutes before 5 a.m. about 1,300 feet west of the S.R. 56 T intersection with State Road 3. Iona R. Reynolds, 57, told Deputy James Shelton that she had been traveling west when she lost control of the pickup. The truck began to spin, she said, and eventually struck an embankment with its front bumper.
Reynolds was aided at the scene by Scott County EMS technicians. She suffered back pain and was transported to Scott Memorial Hospital.
