The YMCA of Harrison County is accepting registrations for their summer sports clinics. The Y offers clinics for golf, volleyball, soccer and basketball. Sports are a great way for youth development, one of the key areas of focus by the YMCA of Harrison County. Registration is taking place at the YMCA of Harrison County, located at 198 Jenkins Ct. in Corydon, or by calling 812-734-0770.
The golf clinic is offered to youth in grades 4th through 8th. Participants will learn the basics of golf; grip and stance, pitching, chipping and driving, as well as course etiquette by instructor J.R. Drummond. The golf clinic will take place from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., May 31 through June 3 at the YMCA of Harrison County and Old Capital Golf Club. Cost is $50 for YMCA of Harrison County members and $65 for non-members. Enrolled Y Summer Day campers will receive half off.

Want to further your 21st Century leadership skills and offer your services as a trained facilitator to groups in our area? Awareness Washington County is offering Advanced Facilitation Training this summer.
The course grew out of two expressed needs for leadership in the county. The first came via a HomeTown Competitiveness county-wide survey, indicating the need for more trained leaders in the community.  Secondly, many groups  have requested a trained “outside” facilitator to work with their organization, including public boards, to help the group arrive at a shared vision or function as a performing community.

Five divisions are set to invade Salem Speedway on Saturday night, May 14th, as racing returns to the legendary facility for the Casey’s General Store Spring Speed Fest, presented by Salem True Value Hardware.
The USAC Mopar D1 Midgets and Dave & Deb’s Winner’s Circle Great American Stocks headline the racing action, which also includes the Lucas Oil Super Stocks, Salem Speedway Pure Stocks and Front Wheel Drive Stocks.

Clark County voters decide who will represent them in the Fall... Hall to face Ennis in Primary for Charlestown Mayor PDF Print E-mail

Clark County voters took advantage of the opportunity to make their choice to represent them in the November General Election last Tuesday, May 3.
Clark County has 62,905 registered voters. A total of 9,029 Democrat ballots were cast on Tuesday, May 3 while 2,150 Republican ballots were cast. The total voter turn out for the Primary Election was 17.77 percent.
Charlestown voters sent incumbent Mayor Republican Bob Hall to the General Election in November as he took 77 percent of the vote over challenger Mark Goodlett. Hall will face Democrat Donna Ennis in the Fall General Election. Ennis ran unopposed in the Primary Election.
