The summer months and the end of the school year are here and it’s time to start thinking about what your child will do with all of their free time. Your Salem Public Library will have a Summer Reading Program for all ages from birth to adults beginning on June 1. The Summer Reading Program is a FREE program for children, Young Adults and Adults. The library also offers special programs for every age from Baby Rhyme time, Toddler and Preschool story time to programs for school-age children, teens, adults and special event programs.

Depot to host open house and groundbreaking PDF Print E-mail

The Monon Railroad ceased to exist 40 years ago when it merged into the Louisville & Nashville system, but Monon trains continue to operate today as they traverse the miniature towns of Salem, Pekin and Campbellsburg in the basement of the John Hay Center’s Depot railroad museum.

Campbellsburg Festival Parade Winners PDF Print E-mail

On this beautiful sunny day with a slight breeze blowing, American Flags flying, sirens from the Fire Trucks, chug, chug from the Big Farm Tractors, Garden Tractors, Ball Teams, Queens and Princesses galore, Horses Prancing and the laughter of children and more with 55 judged entries, passing by for all to enjoy. Trophies were awarded the winning entries and for those who were unable to attend the award presentation and receive their trophy may pick them up at the Campbellsburg Town Hall office. A really big thank you to the parade organizers, for a great job and all the hard work they put in pulling this event together.

Man facing stiff penalty for breaking into home, taking small items PDF Print E-mail

Officers arrested a Lexington area resident for breaking into a Scottsburg home on May 17 and taking a few small items.
Ernest Wayne Roberts, 31, of South State Road 3, Lexington, entered a not guilty plea to one charge of Class C felony burglary and  one charge of Class D felony theft on Friday, May 25, in Scott Circuit Court. If found guilty of a C felony, the defendant could be sentenced to a term of two to eight years in prison.
