Floyd Memorial Home Healthcare today announced that it has been named to the Top 500 of the 2013 HomeCare Elite™, a recognition of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States. Now in its eighth year, the HomeCare Elite identifies the top 25 percent of agencies and highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. Winners are ranked by an analysis of publicly available performance measures in quality outcomes, best practice (process measure) implementation, patient experience (Home Health CAHPS®), quality improvement and consistency, and financial performance. In order to be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least one outcome in Home Health Compare. Out of 9,969 agencies considered, 2,496 are elite.

A Rented Christmas by J. Lillian Vandervere is scheduled to open November 29 at Hayswood Theatre on Capital Avenue in Corydon, Indiana.  John Dale, a middle-aged bachelor and prominent businessman, has a challenging job for Anne Weston, proprietor of the local rent shop. He wants to rent a Christmas - not just a Christmas with a tree and carols, but complete with a a wife, family and all of the happiness for which he has been secretly longing. Weston hires a group of actors to play John’s “family” but suddenly must  “borrow” children from an orphanage when the actors come down with the measles.

According to information released by the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon, only 701 Hoosiers successfully selected insurance plans through the flawed Healthcare.gov website from October 1 through November 2.  While the administration touts this as an enrollment number, they also admit they included both individuals who completed the purchase and those who have put a plan into their online shopping cart, but have not decided to enroll.

Salem Rotary Club to raise funds for disaster relief – Philippines PDF Print E-mail

The Salem Rotary Club is raising funds to assist with disaster relief in the Philippines as a result of Super Typhoon Haiyan.  The storm destroyed entire coastal towns with record winds and tsunami like waves as much as 16 feet in height.  The city of Tacloban was nearly destroyed.  Over a half a million people are estimated to have lost their homes.
