The Floyd Central Marching Band and Emerald Guard competed in Semi-State competition on Saturday, October 23 at Pike High School in Indianapolis.  The band competed against 20 other finalists in Class B  and placed in the top 10 to advance to the Indiana Marching Band State Finals on Saturday, October 30 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Winners named in adopted family photo contest PDF Print E-mail

Local adoption group, Adopted in Christ, is pleased to announce the winners of its Southern Indiana Adoptive Families Photo Contest.
The online photo contest closed September 24 at midnight. Winning photos were chosen by a special panel of four judges.
“Choosing winners was not an easy decision,” said Shawna Miller, the contest’s manager and one of the judges. “So many great family pictures were submitted to the contest.”
Four area families were named winners.

IUS men’s and women’s teams picked to win KIAC PDF Print E-mail

The 2010-2011 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference preseason men’s and women’s basketball polls were released Wednesday, Oct. 20. Seven of the eight coaches selected IU Southeast to repeat as men’s basketball champion. For the women IU Southeast received four first place votes and was also selected to repeat as women’s basketball champion.

Weekend C.N.A. program announced at Red Cross PDF Print E-mail

The Clark County Chapter of the American Red Cross is happy to announce the expansion of our Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program with the addition of weekend classes offerings.
The first weekend class will begin on Saturday, Nov. 6th.  The duration of the class is 7 weekends.  Class hours are from 8a-6p.  Tuition remains the same as traditional weekday classes at $600, with some scholarship funding available.

The atmosphere for high school football in Southern Indiana is always a vibrant one with conference rivalries, county rivalries and old traditional rivalries.
The atmosphere is kicked up a notch when the calendar flips to October for high school football. Conference races are heating up and champions are being decided. Then, when the evenings become cool, on the verge of cold, families bring out their blankets, coats and gloves to help keep warm as they cheer on their favorite high school football program to victory in Sectional play.
