Austin’s Jeremy Johnson heading to Semi-State with Sectional win, Regional third PDF Print E-mail

Austin senior Jeremy Johnson is concluding his high school cross country career with honors, taking the individual 2011 Sectional title on October 4 at Hanover and then placing third in the boys’ Regional at Bedford-North Lawrence on Saturday, October 8.
Johnson won the honors at the Sectional with a time of 16:40, nearly nine seconds ahead of the next runner, Landon Perry of Madison. Silver Creek, which won team honors, placed four runners in the top ten.

The Salem High School girls’ cross country team claimed the regional championship last Saturday at Bedford North Lawrence.
“All of the girls should really be proud of this win,” said Head Coach Roger Bundy. “They ran awesome! We had five of our seven runners achieve PR’s (personal records) which means we are peaking at the right time.

With the score tied at 7-7 at the half, the Floyd Central Highlanders outscored the New Albany Bulldogs 21-7 in the second half to go on to win the game 28-14.
First, after a 70 yard drive, Kyle Bramble ran in a touchdown from 13 yards out, with Jason VanBuren kicking the PAT. That gave them a 14-7 lead, but they weren’t done in the 3rd quarter.
