With the price of a gallon of gas rising above $4, and grocery bills that are also increasing, many families are being forced to trim the food budget.
Thanks to a program that has been around for a while, Angel Food Ministries, New Life Christian Church of Lanesville is trying to help families save cash while getting the most for their grocery dollar.
“There really isn’t a church in our area that offers this program,” said New Life’s Angel Food Director Charity Simpson.

Special Prosecutor assigned, ISP investigation starts on voter fraud complaint PDF Print E-mail

A special prosecutor has been assigned and an investigation by the Indiana State Police is now being conducted in the wake of a complaint filed Monday, May 2, accusing the mayor of the City of Austin and a city employee of voter fraud.

On today’s date (April 26) in the morning hours, troopers from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg went to 354 West Cross Street in Austin on an anonymous tip of Marijuana growing near the residence. When troopers arrived they searched the premises and located three growing Marijuana plants in the backyard of the residence.

After talking to the residents of the home troopers arrested Harlen Combs, 29, of 354 West Cross Street in Austin. He was incarcerated in the Scott County Jail on the charges of Possession/Cultivating Marijuana with a Prior Marijuana Conviction, D Felony.

Man pronounced dead at the scene of April 21 crash PDF Print E-mail

A Salem man is dead following a car crash that occurred on April 21, 2011 just after noon. The crash took place on State Road 135 South, four miles south of Salem, according to Washington County Sheriff's Department Detective Brent Miller.

NH Board accepts $50,000 grant from HCCF for softball field lights PDF Print E-mail

The North Harrison Board of School Trustees accepted a grant in the amount of $50,000 from the Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) to help purchase lights for the varsity softball field.
The vote was 4-1, with Mike Beyerle voting against it. This was due to uncertainty over the final cost of the lighting project.
