A deer which ran out in front of a 2000 Chevy Tahoe late on Wednesday night, April 17, was the cause of a wreck that injured four people. Lois J. Riley, 43, Austin, was driving east on the county road northeast of Austin just after 11:30 p.m. when the animal leaped onto the road in front of her vehicle. She swerved to miss it and struck a tree. Damage to the SUV’s front end was extensive. Riley suffered chest pain following the mishap as did the passenger in the front seat, Michael Riley, 30. Carl W. Vancleave, 38, and Linda Riley, 28, were also listed as injured. Vancleave had back pain, while Linda Riley suffered abdominal/pelvic pain. They were seated in the vehicle’s middle seat.

A Madison resident was taken into custody by officers with the Sheriff’s Department after he was allegedly found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle and items taken from vehicles in a Scottsburg subdivision.

Mock Trial for Scouts draws record attendance PDF Print E-mail

For the fifth consecutive year the Clark Circuit Court No. 1 hosted a staged crime scene and mock trial for area boy and girl scouts. This year’s program brought the highest level of attendance ever, according to sponsoring Judge Dan Moore. It also featured a new presentation of a trained canine dog to help investigate a staged “crime” that occurred and an important reminder from a detective about crimes against children. Over 100 scouts, parents and supervisors attended this year’s program.
