The Washington County Chamber of Commerce met for their first monthly meeting of the new year on Thursday, January 24, 2013. This month’s meeting, sponsored by Frontier Communications, was held at the Awareness Building in Salem.
The Salem High School girls’ basketball team will enter sectional play coming off a 55-43 win over Hauser on Jan. 29. In that game, six players found their way into the scoring column led by Alex Davidson with 20 points and Brittney Walker added 10.
The Lanesville Youth League Endowment Fund at the Harrison County Community Foundation has received a $100,000 boost. The fund, established last year, provides for the support and maintenance of the Lanesville Youth League Fields. Plans call for the creation of a field designed for kids with special needs. The donors said they know it will cost additional money to maintain such a specialized field and they want to make sure it is available. They hope others will join them in providing support for the project.
