Racing returns to Salem Speedway on Sunday, July 3rd, as the Papa John’s Firecracker 200 continues a holiday tradition on the famed southern Indiana high banks.
The 22nd annual classic, paying $5,000 to win, also includes the “Freedom 50” for the Global Assembly Pure Stocks and the “Independence 50” for the Six Sigma Front Wheel Drive Stocks on the quarter-mile infield oval.

This includes the Mayor’s Office,  the office of the Clerk-Treasurer, and Water Billing Department.

Two charged in double homicide, victims have been tentatively identified PDF Print E-mail

The identities of two men found in a Washington County shed located on Rosebud Road have not been released officially, but the victims were referred to in a probably cause affidavit that was read Friday in Washington Superior Court.

Identities of two homicide victims still not known PDF Print E-mail

Autopsies were performed June 23, 2011 on the two bodies found at 7600 Rosebud Road near Salem in Washington County. The autopsies were performed at the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville, KY. Positive identification was not made on either body. The identification process will continue with other types of identification procedures being utilized by the Washington County Coroner’s Office and the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office.

The cause of death and potential time of death of both victims are not being released at this time due to the pending investigation.
