Charlestown Pirate Pride Sports Broadcasting, in cooperation with CTOWNtv, will broadcast this Friday’s Charlestown Pirate Basketball contest versus Salem, live from the CHS Sports Arena.  The broadcast will be streamed live over the internet, including video; beginning at approximately 7:15 p.m. with the Grayson Funeral Homes Pre?Game Show.

Charlestown to celebrate success of City Square Makeover Project, honor 2010 Volunteer of the Year PDF Print E-mail

National Volunteer Week is not until April 10-16 but the City of Charlestown has a lot to celebrate so they will start celebrating early.
The celebration will begin on Friday, March 11 with an invitation only program and reception. The night will celebrate the success of Phase I of the Revitalization Project and the 2010 Volunteer of the Year, Dixie Busby.

Six people hurt in county vehicular mishaps during two-week period PDF Print E-mail

A half-dozen people involved in the seven accidents investigated by the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in February were listed as having suffered some injury.
On February 7, driver Jennifer Stace, no age or address available, was hurt on U.S. Highway 31. The accident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. when her vehicle hit an icy patch on Marshfield bridge. It crossed over into the southbound lane and struck one of the bridge’s guardrails.

The Charlestown Pirate Basketball team improved its record and stayed on course in pursuit of a Mid?Southern Conference title with big wins this recently.
The big weekend started Thursday, January 27, when Louisville’s WLKY?TV 32 Sportscaster Fred Cowgill visited the CHS campus to award the Pirates their “Team of the Week” honors.

Two injured in recent accident on State Road 60 PDF Print E-mail

The Clark County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene of a three car accident on State Road 60 near Landfill Road on Thursday, February 3.
Officers were called to the scene around 9:40 a.m. to investigate the accident. During the investigation, officers found three vehicles involved. Upon further investigation, officers determined a vehicle driver by Dwann Simpson of Salem, was traveling east in a 2003 Ford Escape on State Road 60 when he allegedly fell asleep and drove left of center and struck a vehicle driven by Travis Barton, of Borden. Barton tried to avoid the vehicle swerving left, after which his vehicle was struck by eastbound vehicle driven by Scott Campbell, of Pekin.
