????    The Washington County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Wednesday afternoon, July 16.  
    All members were present and unanimously approved the minutes of previous meetings and all claims, save one.  That claim was for repair of an ambulance in the amount of $5659.02.  
    According to Washington County Auditor, Sarah Bachman, the claim would be paid eventually but it was improperly submitted and must be resubmitted to be approved.

?    Charlestown residents are reminded to attend the Block Watch meetings scheduled in July, for each voting district. If residents are unsure in which district they reside, please feel free to call any of the contacts listed.
    District 1- Thursday, August 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Arts and Enrichment Center located at 999 Water Street. Discussions will include re-scheduling a second clean up day and planning a cook out. ? ?    The Silver Creek Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a free pancake breakfast in conjunction with the Sellersburg Celebrates Parade on August 23 from 7 to 10 a.m. next to the Sellersburg Police Department on New Albany Street in Sellersburg.
    The free pancake breakfast is open to the public, monetary donations are welcomed.
    Kiwanis is a world wide non-profit organization for individuals desiring personal involvement in the leadership and improvement of their communities. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Through Kiwanis membership, individuals can give of themselves, their talent, time and love to those with human needs. Community betterment projects are financed through fund-rasing activities.

?Dedication ceremony for Michael L. Becher Adult Corrections Complex PDF Print E-mail

?    The Clark County Commissioners are inviting the public to the dedication ceremony for the Michael L. Becher Adult Corrections Complex.
    The Commissioners are dedicating the complex to former Clark County Sheriff Michael L. Becher. Becher was Clark County Sheriff from 1987 to 1994 and 1996 to 2006. He died last November 2 after a short battle with cancer.
    The dedication ceremony will be held this Friday, July 25, at 2 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office located at 501 E. Court Avenue in Jeffersonville.
    The Commissioners encourage the public to attend.

?Salem Common Council to ask county for advance draw on property taxes PDF Print E-mail

???? ?    The Salem Common Council met in regular session on Monday, July 14 with all members present.  The minutes of previous meetings and all claims were approved unanimously.
    Salem City Clerk/Treasurer, Pat Persinger requested approval from the Council to request an advance draw on property taxes from funds that have been prepaid by taxpayers.  According to Persinger, the move is necessitated by the anticipated delay in preparing and collecting property taxes this year.  Persinger’s request was approved unanimously by the Council Members.
