?    The Harrison County Hospital Foundation is now taking applications for vendors to participate in the Taste of Harrison County. Taste of Harrison County highlights the wonderful food and drink of the many establishments in Harrison County.
Applications are accepted from the various restaurants, retail stores, and other local businesses who would like to share items from their menus with the community. It’s an opportunity for businesses to reach new customers.
The Taste of Harrison County will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2009 in the Parvin Baumgart Educational Center at Harrison County Hospital. Tickets will be available to the public beginning in March. Vendors pay no registration fees but are expected to provide food and drink for customers.
In addition to the Taste, a silent auction is planned, and vendors may contribute items to the auction, as well.
The Harrison County Hospital Foundation will use the income from this event to continue to provide wellness and health education programs to the public.
Businesses interested in participating in the Taste of Harrison County should contact Sheryl Voelker, Harrison County Hospital Foundation Coordinator, at (812) 738-8762.

?    Investigations of two recent robberies at Austin and Scottsburg businesses are still under way.
D&M Grocery, a small neighborhood store located on Rural Street on Austin’s north side, was robbed on Tuesday, December 16.
The initial investigation was started by Patrolman Shawn Hurt, who was dispatched to the grocery just before 9:30 p.m. that Tuesday. According to the store cashier, a white male came into the building and approached her at the counter. The woman told the officer that the man demanded money and pulled out a handgun. She handed over some money, and the man left.
The suspect was wearing dark sunglasses as well as a black toboggan on his head and a black coat with a hood. He had dark jeans and dark shoes.
A video of the suspect was taken by the store’s surveillance system.
The armed robbery of the Family Dollar Store on West McClain Avenue in Scottsburg took place on Monday, December 22.

?Thirsty man now facing B felony for break-in and court order violation PDF Print E-mail

?    A man who allegedly broke into a woman’s Scottsburg home has been incarcerated in lieu of $75,000 cash bond after being charged in that break-in in Scott Circuit Court.
On December 19, Thomas J. Snow, 29, Scottsburg, purportedly broke into the home of a woman who had a protective order issued against him through the local court system. He then apparently made himself at home, drinking a cold beer while supposedly waiting for the woman to return. When she did, she was told by a neighbor that he’d seen Snow in her back yard. The woman called Scottsburg police, and Patrolmen Travis Rutherford and Troy Ford were dispatched to the home.
Officer Ford found where glass had been broken out of a back door to gain entry. A sack with five beers in it was found in the livingroom.
