Season championships will be on the line when racing returns to Salem Speedway on Sunday afternoon, October 2nd.  The Scott County Visitors Commission Season Championship event marks the final points race of the year for all four Salem Speedway divisions – Lucas Oil Super Stocks, Dave & Deb’s Winner’s Circle Great American Stocks, Global Assembly Pure Stocks and Six Sigma Front Wheel Drive Stocks.

Pirates cruise past Lions for 46-7 Homecoming victory PDF Print E-mail

 

The Salem Lions traveled to Charlestown last Friday night to try to spoil the Pirates' homecoming. Salem took the opening possession and found the scoreboard first but it would prove to be the only visitors' score on the evening in the Bone Yard. The Pirates would take control of the ballgame and answer the early Salem lead with a touchdown of their own. After Charlestown took the early lead, 12-7, the Pirates would never relinquish the lead as the Pirate defense denied any Lion trying to find the endzone after the opening possession. Charlestown took the 46-7 Mid Southern Conference victory. The Pirates now lead the series with the Lions, 22-21.

Salem hospital headed in right direction PDF Print E-mail

New carpet, curtains and furniture, as well as a fresh coat of paint, are just a few of the improvements being made at St. Vincent Salem Hospital.
Administrator Lee Jaeger, who has been at the hospital’s helm for a year, is excited about these cosmetic changes and is hoping the patients and visitors to the hospital are, too.
