Youth First of Washington County in collaboration with the Indiana Youth Institute, hosted a luncheon for 33 youth and family serving professionals, the Youth First Café, on Thursday, February 16th at Southern Hills Church.  Guest speakers for the program were Adam Shoemaker, Indiana Youth Institute Program Evaluation Consultant and Lindsey Wade-Swift, Washington County Community Foundation Program and Financial Manager.

A week long recruiting campaign for 4-H will begin in Washington County this Saturday, March 11, and will run through Friday, March 17. 4-H is a volunteer led organization that reaches out to the youth through a variety of programs based in both rural and urban settings. It’s also the largest youth-serving organization in the country for youth in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Lewellen’s home was destroyed. She held her dog and a picture of her mother but her main concern was not on all that she had lost it was the family of five that lived in the home across the street.

No wonder a long ago scribe was once moved to describe a powerful tornado he witnessed as “the finger of God.”
The tornadoes that wreaked so much havoc and killed 13 people on Friday afternoon, March 2, are etched in people’s memories, especially those of folks who lived through the deadly storms.
