?Metzger returns as Pirates fall 28-14 on Senior Night to Lawrenceburg PDF Print E-mail

?    Last Friday night the Pirate faithful seen a familiar number on the gridiron.
    After suffering a knee injury in the first half of week four at Eastern Charlestown’s #3, Cameron Metzger, returned to play in his last regular season game as a Pirate.
    Prior to the kick-off the Pirates honored the senior members of the  school’s football, volleyball, soccer, cross country, boys tennis and girls golf teams, the cheerleaders and Marching Pirates with Senior Night activities.
    Unfortunately, the Tigers of Lawrenceburg spoiled the night as they pulled out the 28-14 win to finish the season at 8-1 while Charlestown finished the regular season at 6-3. The Pirates are Co-Champs of the Mid Southern Conference as they finished at 5-1. Their only loss in conference play coming in week seven at Salem.

?    Lt. Governor Becky Skillman recently awarded a $150,00 Rural Capacity Grant to the Southern Indiana Minority Enterprise Initiative, Inc. The award will fund an entrepreneurial support project which will contribute to the growth of six Indiana counties. The Southern Indiana Minority Enterprise Initiative is a not-for-profit advocacy organization with a mission to increase the number of minority-owned businesses in southern Indiana.

?Charlestown High School Theatre presents Johnny Brooke, A Ghost Story PDF Print E-mail

?    Get in the Halloween Spirit and prepare to ride an emotional roller coaster as the Charlestown High School Theatre Department brings a spine tingling performance of Johnny Brooke, A Ghost Story to their stage.
    Go into the story of Johnny, a 17 year old senior from 1965 who died in the garage at Brooke Manor over 40 years ago. Follow the family who now lives in the supposedly haunted house as they discover the many mysteries that lie within the home.
    Performances will be in the school’s auditorium on Thursday, October 23 at 7 p.m., Saturday, October 25 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 26 at 2 p.m.
    Doors open one hour before show times. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students/seniors and can be purchased at the door.

?Farm Bureau, Inc. to host Meet the Candidates session October 28 PDF Print E-mail

?    The Clark County Farm Bureau, Inc. will conduct a “Meet the Candidates” session on Tuesday, October 28, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Building at the Clark County 4-H Center (Highway 62 in Charlestown).
    Federal, state and county candidates for office in the upcoming fall election are being invited to participate in this event.
    The session is free of charge and the public is urged to attend. Those in attendance will be able to ask candidates questions from the floor or privately.
    Questions about this public session may be directed to Judy Popp, President of the Clark County Farm Bureau, Inc., at 812-256-5870.

?FEMA to be at Floyd County Fairgrounds to distribute food stamps, applications for disaster assistance PDF Print E-mail

?    All this week, FEMA will be on hand at the Floyd County 4-H Fairgrounds to distribute food stamps to qualified homeowners whose food was lost during the power outage resulting from September 14's windstorm.
    These food stamps will be in the form of pre-loaded “shopping cards”, allowing families re-compensation of food losses.  These cards will vary in amount depending on the size of family, conditions, etc.
    In addition, FEMA can also offer the opportunity to apply for housing assistance to cover structural damage to homes.
