Pedestrian Dies in Crash on Grant Line Road PDF Print E-mail

 

On December 20, 2011 at approximately 3:54 p.m., the New Albany Police Department received a call regarding a crash involving a pedestrian on Grant Line Road near Jolissaint Ave. Due to the severity of the injuries to the pedestrian, the Floyd County CART Team was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

Coaches have a lot going on during the course of a game and sometimes don't see things that assistant coaches may pick up on. That's what happened Tuesday in Louisville's 69-62 win over College of Charleston in the YUM! Center.

Head Coach Rick Pitino credited his son, assistant coach Richard Pitino for suggesting a move that would put senior Kyle Kuric in the four spot against COC's zone defense.

UK's Lamb has Cats playing like Lions in win over Samford PDF Print E-mail

Doron Lamb has been working hard at his game. He said extra shooting and work on the treadmill has improved his game.

Samford can attest to that as Lamb scored 26 points in helping the Cats roll to an 82-50 win Tuesday night in Rupp Arena.

“He's been good,” said UK Head Coach John Calapari when asked about Lamb's contribution to the team this season. “Let me just tell you, the extra time that he's spending on that basketball court before practice, after practice, you're all seeing the benefit of it.”

Coach Mo is new Salem Athletic Director PDF Print E-mail

Salem High School has a new athletic director. The board of school trustees met in regular session Monday night and hired Mo Moriarity as the AD, effective that night.
Salem Community Schools Superintendent Dr. Lynn Reed said, “For this coming semester, he will take over the AD duties and teach his PE classes as well. That will be a heavy load, but he felt it was in the best interest of our school. I am grateful for the flexibility and talent of our administrative team.”

News from Salem City Council meeting PDF Print E-mail

The Salem City Council met for their regular monthly meeting on Monday,  December 12, 2011.
The meeting opened with a presentation by Judy Johnson, who represented the Washington County Community Foundation. Earlier this year the Foundation brought four college interns on board with the challenge of creating a video that explores various aspects of living in and around Salem’s community. The interns, all Washington County natives, spent their summer filming various locations around town and interviewing many Salem residents for the project. The result is a 35 minute film entitled “What’s Great About Washington County” that showcases the historical, recreational and communal aspects of living in the area. Johnson showed a clip from the finished product featuring residents talking about the beauty of Washington County’s landscapes and the cost of living in Salem.
