The 2011 Harrison County 4-H Fair will officially begin on Friday, July 22 with the opening of the 4-H Exhibit Hall from 3 to 9 p.m. (the Hall will continue to be open daily from 1 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 through Wednesday, July 27). Fairgoers will be able to check out poultry, goat and dairy female shows the next day and then they’ll have a special chance to witness the Lama Exhibition Show on Sunday, July 24.

For veteran educator Gary Hutton, it’s the students that count the most. The long time veteran of Floyd Central Junior High and High School, and later Highland Hills Middle school was recently named as the new principal of Morgan elementary School, after having been the North Harrison Title I reading coordinator the past two years.

NH Supt. warns board of financial woes in near future PDF Print E-mail

The North Harrison Board of School Trustees learned Thursday of possible future financial difficulties, unless the state increases its funding in the next few years.
“I’m afraid that’s only going to get worse,” said North Harrison Supt. John Roeder.

Austin Summer Adventure 2011 continues to bring plenty of activities for children and their parents to enjoy in July and August.
The activities/enrichment program is being sponsored through the grant given to the City of Austin by the Indiana Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. It benefits low-income families, helping them gain educational and work skills.

In May, Perry and Dawn Tyler opened Koozan’s, a restaurant serving authentic Cajun cooking. And before you say, “I don’t like hot food!” Perry wants you to know, “It’s not about the heat; it’s about the flavor.”
He said Cajun food cooked right isn’t necessarily spicy hot, it’s very flavorful.
