   Washington County Memorial Hospital was on life support last week and Washington County Commissioner John Mishler said they were on the verge of pulling the plug.
    The county was faced with a decision to either shut the door of the hospital for good, or be responsible for reimbursing an unknown amount of money to medicare.
    “It was so close to closing, there were plans being made to transfer patients,” Mishler said. “We were right down to the wire.”

Borden boys fall to Orleans PDF Print E-mail

     For the past three years ranked Orleans has played Borden and come up short. This had to be a concern for Orleans coach Tom Bradley. It didn’t seem to be a concern for his players.
    In the first quarter Borden came at Orleans ignoring their current ranking of 4th in single A ball. Brandon Beam and Dalton Wagoner drove to the middle against Orleans 6’6” Center, Cameron Carroll. In three minutes they had forced two fouls on him and he was on the bench.

Second Chance Ranch home to recovering horses PDF Print E-mail

    Four more horses, all reportedly suffering from neglect, were seized recently by the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, and three of the group are now happily recovering at Second Chance Ranch.
    “The three we were able to save are doing very well. We had to put down the mare that had cancer on February 1. She was really suffering,” advised Jenny McIntosh. Jenny and husband Joe operate Second Chance Ranch, using a lot of their own money to bring neglected animals back to health.

       Sam Gardner, Interim Superintendent for Lanesville Community Schools will be guest speaker at the Franklin Township Farm Bureau meeting, Tuesday evening, February 9.  Gardner along with High School Principal, Mrs. Janet  Page, and Mrs. Marsha Himmelhaver, Elementary School Principal will present a power point program on the up-date.
