On yesterday’s date in the afternoon hours, Trooper Nathan Abbott with the assistance of his partner, “Kilo” the state police K-9, initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 65 Southbound at the 18 Mile Marker. The traffic stop was made for Following Too Closely. As Trooper Abbott spoke to the driver, Stanley N. Thomas, 32, from Indianaola Avenue in Indianapolis, IN, his suspicions grew that criminal activity could be occurring.

Death Investigation in Harrison County PDF Print E-mail

Detectives from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg are on the scene of a death investigation in rural Harrison County. In the evening hours of today’s date, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department contacted Indiana State Police Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians after the body of a white male subject was located in an open field off of Depauw Church Road near Elizabeth.

No other information, including the identification of the white male will be released until an autopsy is completed in the morning hours of tomorrow’s date at the Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.

Scottsburg man allegedly bilks trusting relative out of $60,000 PDF Print E-mail

Bail for a Scottsburg man charged with 21 felony counts of forgery and theft has been set at $50,000 corporate surety/full cash, about $10,000 less than the amount he is accused of having stolen from a relative.
Dale S. Westmoreland, 36, entered a not guilty plea to the charges in Scott Circuit Court on Thursday, January 27, that he signed his relative’s name to several checks drawn on the relative’s checking account.
Westmoreland lost his job about two years ago and moved in with the victim. He ran errands for the relative, including making purchases with the victim’s debit card.
