To begin the 2009-10 Scottsburg Warriorette basketball season, the Warriorettes welcomed the Jennings County Lady Panthers and defeated them by a score of 59-30.  This season, the Warriorettes started off with the same opponent, but this time the team traveled to Jennings County to face the Lady Panther on their own home court.  However, the result was much of the same as the Warriorettes got off on the right foot to begin the season with an impressive 61-47 victory.

It didn't take long for former Salem girls' basketball Head Coach Wade Tomlinson to get his first win in the same role at West Washington.

The Lady Senators opened the season on Nov. 9 with a loss 47-39 loss to Borden, but regrouped on Nov. 11 to pick up a 69-53 victory over Clarksville.

On Saturday, November 6, the 21 member high school cheer squad from Scottsburg captured the state title in New Castle in the Small Co-ed Division. The cheerteam qualified in a preliminary round a week earlier to advance to the Indiana Cheerleading State Championships. On Saturday, they beat out schools from Brownstown, Woodlan, New Haven, Mt. Vernon and Elkhart Central.

The percentage of registered voters in Scott County who either cast absentee ballots or visited the polls on Tuesday, November 2, to make their opinions known still disappointed most observers.
A total of 38.42% voted on Tuesday. That’s 7,304 registered voters out of Scott County’s 19,010 who were eligible to cast ballots.
