It's football season again in the Commonwealth, as University of Louisville head coach Charlie Strong met the media about a week before camp begins on Aug. 5.

Strong and Kentucky coach Joker Philips talked about the upcoming game between the Cardinals and Wildcats on Sept. 4 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

The two head coaches had a brief press conference at the annual Governor's Cup gathering Wednesday afternoon at Lake Forest C.C.

Strong noted that the first two practices will be open to the public. The first practice on Aug. 5 with the varsity will be at 6:00 a.m., while the freshmen will practice at 6:00 p.m., later that day. The Aug. 6 practice will also be open, but the time has yet to be determined.

An alert City of Madison police officer is being credited for taking a wanted felon from Scott County off the streets on Sunday, July 18.
Patrolman Joe Baker of that department had been patrolling in the area of a house where drug trafficking was suspected. During the early afternoon, he saw a woman, identified as Christina Nicole Richie, and a man come out of the house. Richie reportedly got into the driver’s seat of a vehicle, and the man joined her as her passenger.
Knowing that Richie was a suspended driver, Ptl. Baker followed the pair for a short distance before pulling them over. When Ptl. Baker approached the car, he recognized not only Richie but also her passenger, Paul D. Stucker, 50, Scottsburg, described in a recent Indiana State Police new release as “ of Southern Indiana’s most wanted fugitives.”
