?    In an abbreviated public meeting following an extended executive session, the Washington County Memorial Hospital (WCMH) Board of Directors received still more disappointing financial information.  According to Chief Financial Officer, Patricia Ellison, WCMH lost over $228,000 in the month of November and a total of $1.6 million, year-to-date.  The financial report was accepted and approved by the Board without question or discussion.
In other business, the Board heard from WCMH Chief Executive Officer, Randy Lindauer, about efforts and progress in recruiting Family Practice Physicians and Pediatrics Physicians.  According to Lindauer, negotiations are going well with several doctors and it is expected that some sort of formal announcements are forthcoming after the first of the year.
The Board also appoint three of its own members as representatives to a committee charged with negotiating a binding affiliation agreement with Saint Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis.  In addition to members of the WCMH Board, members of the Washington County Council and the Washington County Board of Commissioners will also serve on the negotiating committee.  Formal negotiations between the two hospitals are set to begin in January.
With no further business to discuss, the Board adjourned until its next regularly scheduled meeting on January 29.

??    The Lanesville Board of School Trustees renewed the coverage of school personnel with Anthem, continuing the coverage they already have. The renewal was for one more year.
“There was a 3 percent increase in the premium,” said Supt. Sam Gardner, who said that the price of the insurance premiums is based on a number of factors, such as “the loss ratios; what your claim history is.”
After 41 years of service to the Lanesville Community Schools, thirrd grade teacher Michelle England was feted at a retirement reception last Friday morning (as part of the school’s Christmas program) by the school. She taught her entire career at Lanesville.
Nathan Barnickle has been hired as England’s appointment for the third grade. He grew up in Lanesville, and attended the Lanesville Community Schools.

???    True to their word, Austin Mayor Doug Campbell and the City Council are creating a Disposal Center that will be open two days each month to accept large objects from Austin residents.
Any resident of Austin may use the new service at no extra charge. The Council and Mayor offered the idea of allowing people to haul large items to a central location when they overhauled the city’s trash collection system earlier this year. The ordinance creating the new system, whereby most residents will be charged $10 per month for trash pick-up, will go into effect on Monday, December 29. The new charge will be listed on residents’ sewer bills starting in January.
