This year the 4-H events will highlight the Clark County 4-H fair. The following is a list of some of the featured 4-H events:
4-H Exhibit Buildings
A highlight of the 4-H Fair is the Exhibit Buildings that house the 4-H projects, which will be judged on Saturday, July 10. These two buildings are filled with projects completed by 4-H members, which illustrate learning, goal setting and achievement. The 4-H Exhibit Buildings will be open Sunday, July 11, from to 2 to 10 p.m. and Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 16, from 5 to 10 p.m.

On June 21, 2010 the Indiana State Police received information that two escapees from the Todd County, KY Jail were staying at a hotel on Eastern Boulevard in Clarksville, IN.

Alleged assailant arrested after breaking woman’s nose in Austin altercation PDF Print E-mail

An apparent domestic situation on June 23 has landed an Austin man behind bars.
Todd J. Deaton, 23, was taken into custody by Austin police after he apparently broke a woman’s nose after choking her.

‘Family friend’ arraigned on 23 counts of alleged child molesting PDF Print E-mail

A Scottsburg man described as a family friend has now been charged with 23 counts of molesting the child for whom he had baby-sat since the youngster was seven or eight years old.
Steven Todd Minton, 38, entered a not guilty plea during an initial hearing on July 1 to the list of Class A and Class C felonies filed against him in Scott Circuit Court on June 29.

Scott County Fair-related events begin Thursday at Fairgrounds PDF Print E-mail

Though the official start of the 2010 Scott County Fair is scheduled for Sunday, July 11, several related events begin with a general clean-up at the fairgrounds on Thursday, June 24.
The clean-up at the 4-H Building begins at 6 p.m. 4-H club leaders, 4-H Council members, 4-H members, extension homemaker club members, the 4-H Extension Board and family members are welcome to participate.
On Friday, June 25, 4-H Ambassador judging will take place at the Extension Office starting at 1 p.m. also that day, 4-H Creative Writing and History entries are due by 4:30 p.m. and must be submitted at the Extension Office.
On Saturday, June 26, 4-H’ers taking Bicycle as a project must participate in the Annual Bicycle Rodeo. It is set for 8 a.m. in an unused portion of the Save-A-Lot grocery store at the corner of West McClain Avenue and Bond Street in Scottsburg. Participants’ manuals must also be submitted at the rodeo.
There is also an Area 2 Horse and Pony Contest at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Charlestown on Saturday.
On Monday, June 28, 4-H dog obedience judging will take place at Scottsburg’s Beechwood Park starting at 6 p.m.
Fair-related events which can be attended by the public then skip to Tuesday, July 6, when 4-H consumer clothing will be judged prior to the annual 4-H Fashion Revue at 6:30 p.m. Both will take place at Scottsburg High School in the commons area.
2010 4-H Ambassadors will also be announced and crowned.
From 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, Open Class entries will be accepted in fine arts, arts and crafts, clothing, food preservation, photography, needlework and quilts at the Open Class Building.
At 6 p.m., action shifts to the Livestock Barn, where a general clean-up and pen set-up are scheduled.
From 7 to 9 p.m., non-perishable 4-H projects will be accepted at the 4-H Building.
A plethora of 4-H projects will be accepted on Friday, July 9, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. from aerospace to woodworking. Projects will be submitted at the 4-H Building.
At 12 noon, the 4-H Building closes for judging.
On Saturday, July 10, action begins from 8:30 to 11 a.m. with 4-H open judging for clothing and crafts as well as perishable projects such as baked goods, flowers, forages, cake decorating, tobacco, grains, potatoes and the like.
At 9 a.m., the 4-H Horse and Pony Show begins at the Scott County Saddle Club arena behind the Saddle Club’s building. That building opens at 8 a.m. that Saturday to sell food and drinks in air-conditioned comfort.
At 12 noon on Sunday, July 11, all livestock competing in 4-H shows must be at the fairgrounds.
Action shifts to downtown Scottsburg where the “Come to the Fair” parade begins at 3 p.m.
Following the parade, the annual Kiddie Tractor Pull will take place at the fairgrounds in the Young Farmers display area near the Horse Barn. The 4-H Building will open at 5 p.m. to the public.
While the Little Miss and Little Master Contest begins at 6 p.m. at the high school, the 4-H cat show will start at 6:30 p.m. in the 4-H Building. The open class will follow.
Those wanting to see the 2010 Miss Scott County Fair Queen Pageant had better be in their seats at the high school’s McClain Hall by 7 p.m.
Admission for the pageant is $8 for adults and $5 for children under age 12.
At the fairgrounds’ grandstand that evening, stock car races are promised starting at 7:30 p.m.
Late models, pure stocks, mini-stocks and cruisers will be featured that evening. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children under age 12.
The 2010 Miss Scott County Fair Queen will begin her reign that same evening, awarding prizes at the conclusion of the races.
On Monday, July 12, entries in perishable foods will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the Open Class Building.
Open Class flowers, crops and garden will be accepted at the new Open Class Garden Building. Open class buildings will close at 12 noon for judging.
