Cougars finish 6th at state cross country meet; Ashton Bosler 46th in girls’ race
The North Harrison boys’ cross country team finished 6th at the IHSAA State Meet Saturday at the Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course near Terre Haute. The Cougars had a total of 192 points. The top five teams were Columbus North 77, Hamilton Southeastern 109, Carmel 152, Mishawaka 155, and Lawrence Central 179. The team was led by Johnnie Guy, who finished in 14th place (15:52.4), and Ashton Bosler finished in 46rh place (19:27.7) in the girls’ division, as a freshman competing in the state gathering for the first time.
The Floyd Central Highlanders had a chance to win the game with two seconds left in the game. They had the ball and threw a pass towards the end zone, but the pass fell incomplete and Floyd fell to home standing Bedford-North Lawrence 36-32 in the semifinals of Class 5A Sectional 8 Friday night. Floyd Central had started their last drive of the game with a little over a minute left, and an apparent 63 yard touchdown by Bramble was nullified by a blocking penalty.

One of the area’s most notable business is getting recognition across the nation and receiving some much deserved publicity in a national magazine. The business is nestled on U.S. 31 in downtown Underwood, and is Friends and Company Mercantile, which is owned and operated by Donna and Charlie Heil.
The Seymour Lady Owls ended the tournament journey of the Floyd Central Lady Highlanders Saturday night with a come from behind five game victory in the finals of the Class 5A volleyball sectional finals at New Albany.
