Services for retired county treasurer Elsie M. Sharp are conducted
Longtime Scott County public servant Elsie Mae Sharp died on Sunday, January 22, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. Sharp was born to Horace M. and Estella Mae Hall Sharp on September 13, 1933, in Scottsburg.
1962 Sectional Champs to be recognized Friday at CHS
The Charlestown High School Athletic Department will host a Recognition Night this Friday, February 3 at the CHS Sports Arena; recognizing the school’s first ever sectional win by the 1962 Pirates basketball team.
New CPD Chief and Assistant Chief working to “bridge gap between community and department”
The new year has brought new faces sitting behind the desks of the Charlestown Police Chief and Assistant Chief. Charlestown native Keith McDonald was sworn in on January 17 as the new Chief of Police for the Charlestown Police Department. McDonald named former K-9 Officer Jason Broady as his new Assistant Chief.
Silver Creek looking to defend Sectional 30 championship
The Silver Creek Lady Dragons are looking to defend their Sectional title. Last year the Lady Dragons traveled down State Road 403 to Mid Southern Conference rival Charlestown and captured the Sectional title. This year, the same could happen as the Lady Pirates again are hosting Sectional 30.
The year 2012 marks the 15th year of the Clark County 4-H Shooting Sports Program. Last year 55 youth enrolled and enjoyed the advisement of Indiana State 4-H certified instructors giving them firearm safety instruction and several “hands on” range experiences with shotguns, rifles and handguns.
