Although Eastern hosts the upcoming boys’ basketball Sectional 47 in Class 2A, Eastern coach Scott Newcomb isn’t exactly looking at his own team as the only favorite in the party.
“I think anybody in the sectional has a chance to win it,” said Newcomb recently. “It makes for an exciting sectional.”
If there is a favorite, it would probably be 15-2 Brownstown Central Braves, which is (as of Feb. 14) 4-0 against the rest of the Sectional 47 field.

Although there are several possibilities as to which team will win the upcoming Class 1A boys’ basketball Sectional 62 at Henryville, there appears to be one team which has managed to rise above the other teams so far.
As of Feb. 14, the Rock Creek Lions are 14-3 overall, and 5-0 against the sectional field, and they are 9-1 against other Class 1A teams.
So far, Rock Creek has defeated New Washington (67-53), South Central (69-48), CAI 979-54), Borden (65-63), and Lanesville (73-62).
