Eastern High School graduate Jordan Basham is now a sophomore on the Bellarmine University Softball team. She helped sparked the Lady Knights to a 2-0 victory over Drury.
    Basham hit two round-trippers.
She smacked a first-pitch homerun over the left field wall and her shot in the sixth inning provided an insurance run for Bellarmine pitcher Casey Willard, who went the distance with five strikeouts and allowing just two hits.
Basham was 2-for-3 in the win and 2-for-3 in a 7-2 loss Bellarmine suffered earlier in the day.
Bellarmine returns to the field on Wednesday for a doubleheader against Lincoln Memorial University.
First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.

A crowd of more than 800 parents filed into the New Albany High School auditorium Monday, most wishing to express concern over the school corporation's attempt at erasing a $6.6 million budget shortfall.
The proposal, released late last week, includes closing four elementary schools, Children's Academy of New Albany, Pine View, Silver Street and Galena Elementary schools.
Other cuts in the plan include 78 non-teaching jobs and assigning fifth graders from elementary to middle schools.
School Superintendent Bruce Hibbard assured those in attendance that the changes would not affect academics in the school corporation.
“We will still have a rich academic (environment),” he said.
A Galena parent, Mindy Johnson, didn't agree.
“I'm afraid it sends a message that hard work, commitment to excellence does not matter,” she said.

Former Floyd Central High School and Providence High School boys' basketball coach Joe Hinton gave fans at Paoli a scare in last Friday's sectional semi-finals.
Hinton, who is currently seventh on the states list of winningest active coaches, has ammased a 594-339 record in 44 years of coaching and just prior to tip-off of the Rams game against Eastern, Hinton collapsed in the locker room and was taken to the Orange county hospital.
He was later transferred to Floyd Memorial Hospital where he is still undergoing tests.
According to a Paoli High School Principal Jerry Stroud, Hinton is in good spirits, but the cause of his collapsing is still not known.
