Pekin-Eastern Alumni Association concert will raise money for scholarships PDF Print E-mail

The Pekin-Eastern Alumni Association, Inc. will present a “Music Concert” at the Eastern High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 22, 2011 starting at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5:30).

The featured performers will be the Lick Creek Band and Pawnshop Guitar.

Tickets will be available at the door and cost $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for students and preschool age kids or younger get in for free.

All proceeds will go to fund scholarships for graduating Eastern seniors. For more information, call Carol Weatherholt at 812-967-3371.

The West Washington Junior High School football team traveled to Pekin last week for a showdown against East Washington Middle School for a pair of games.
The two contest were lopsided affairs with both schools claiming an easy win.

Southern Hills Church heading up Christmas Assistance Program PDF Print E-mail

Southern Hills Church will be heading up the Christmas Assistance Program this year. 
They are accepting applications for assistance as well as volunteers to assist with the program.      Both applications are available at under the “Outreach” section.  Applications will be accepted on Friday, October 21 from 1-5 p.m. and Saturday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

NH boys win cross country regional PDF Print E-mail

The North Harrison Cougars won both the boys’ and girls’ individual titles in Saturday’s Crawford County Cross Country Regional, with Johnnie guy clocking in at 16:06.5 for the boys’ and freshman Ashton Bosler clearing the finish line at 19:00.5 for the girls.
The Cougars also handily won the boys’ title with a score of 19, with Floyd Central coming in 4th with a score of 129. The top five teams advance to Saturday’s semi state at Brown County.
