Fathers to be honored at genealogical meeting
At the next meeting of the Scott County Genealogical Society on Thursday, June 3, fathers will be honored.
Each person will be able to participate in a “show and tell” about male ancestors. Bring photos and tell stories about male ancestors.
Doors at the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum in Scottsburg will open at 6 p.m., and food will be served. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $6 at the door. The museum is located at 1050 South Main Street. For more information, call 752-3388.

Commencement exercises for the 100th class of seniors to graduate from Austin High School will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 28, in the Lady Eagles’ Gym.
The actual number of graduates for the Class of 2010 is not yet available from administrators, but estimates are around 80 will walk into the gym that evening garbed in black and white gowns to receive their diplomas.

Outdoor breakfast at Hardy Lake PDF Print E-mail

The next outdoor breakfast hosted by Friends of Hardy Lake at the lake’s shelterhouse overlooking the beach will be held on Saturday, May 29, during Memorial Day weekend.
The group will serve an all-you-can-eat meal from 7 to 10 a.m. on certain Saturdays during the spring, summer and fall at the large shelterhouse to raise funds to support the Dwight Chamberlain Raptor Center near the lake. Cost per breakfast is $6 per adult and $3 for children ages three to 12. Youngsters under age three will eat free.
Other dates for the breakfasts include June 26, July 3 on the Independence Day weekend, July 31, August 28, September 4 on the Labor Day weekend, September 25 during Hardy Lake’s Raptor Days and October 30 during the lake’s Fall Fun Days weekend.
Friends of Hardy Lake now has a website. Everyone interested in learning more about Friends and their activities are welcome to visit the site at friendsofhardylake.com.
